Frequently Asked Questions
Common answers regarding your fungi records, privacy, and app features.
How do identification logs work?
Mycosystem lets you catalogue mushroom specimens encountered during foraging or nature walks. You can snap specimen photos, assign species tags, record surrounding forest habitat, and add personal field notes.
Logs work completely offline when you are out in remote woodlands with no cellular service.
What system diagnostics does Mycosystem collect?
Mycosystem only receives aggregated diagnostic reports (such as crash stack traces, freeze events, device model, and iOS versions) to help us locate and resolve bugs.
We do not track your identity, collect advertising IDs, or access unnecessary device data.
Can I export or delete my fungi logs?
Yes. You have complete ownership over your user-generated content. You can swipe to delete any single log entry, or delete the app entirely to purge all stored local data instantly.
Is GPS location required to save an observation?
No, location is completely optional. If you prefer to protect secret foraging spots, you can freely save logs without attaching GPS coordinates.
Quick Troubleshooting
If something is not working as expected on your iPhone:
-
Camera & Photo Permissions Check iOS Settings > Mycosystem > Photos / Camera to confirm the app has permission to capture or select specimen photos.
-
App Unexpectedly Quitting Verify your device is running the latest iOS version. If a crash persists on launch, email us with your iPhone model so we can issue a hotfix.
-
Storage & Photo Quality Ensure your device has free internal storage so high-resolution fungal photo entries can be written securely to the disk.
