Privacy Policy
Mycosystem the app is designed to provide you with tools to record, classify, and track fungi observations while keeping data collection to the absolute minimum necessary to keep the app working reliably.
1. Information We Collect
Mycosystem collects only two categories of data:
- System Diagnostics and Performance Data: Non-personally identifiable diagnostic data including crash stack traces, unexpected error logs, device hardware model (e.g., iPhone 15), iOS version, and app performance metrics. This information is collected solely to detect anomalies, diagnose bugs, and improve the stability and performance of the application.
- User-Generated Content (Fungi Identification Logs): Observations you voluntarily record within the app. This may include photos of specimens, observation timestamps, field notes, habitat observations, and classification records you save.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We believe in data minimization. Mycosystem does not track your personal identity or sell your data.
- We do not require an account with personal credentials such as real names, home addresses, or phone numbers.
- We do not collect advertising identifiers (such as Apple's IDFA) or track you across apps and websites.
- We do not perform passive or persistent background location tracking. Any coordinates attached to a fungi observation log are captured only when you explicitly choose to include geotags with your log.
- We do not sell, lease, or rent your data to data brokers, advertisers, or third-party marketing networks.
3. How We Use the Data
The minimal data handled by Mycosystem is used strictly for:
- Delivering core functionality: letting you build, view, and organize your fungi identification catalog.
- Troubleshooting application freezes, crashes, and memory leaks.
- Optimizing the app for future iOS updates and Apple silicon architectures.
4. Third-Party Diagnostics & Services
Technical diagnostics may be collected through standard Apple developer telemetry (such as Apple TestFlight or Xcode Organizer Crash Reports) if you have opted in to share crash and usage data with app developers via your iOS System Settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements).
These diagnostic reports are aggregated and stripped of personal identifying details in full compliance with Apple's App Store Review Guidelines and Privacy Framework.
5. Data Storage and Deletion
Your fungi identification logs are saved locally on your device (or in your private, authenticated iCloud account if you choose to sync files across your Apple devices).
You have complete control over your content. You can edit, export, or permanently delete individual fungi identification logs directly within the app at any time. Deleting the application from your device deletes all locally stored identification records.
6. Children's Privacy
Mycosystem does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. Because the application does not collect personal identifiers, it complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and international child privacy requirements.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect app updates or legal requirements. Any modifications will be updated here with a revised "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
